TROY – Troy women’s basketball leads the nation in an offensive category – and despite putting up 84.5 points per game, it isn’t points.
After hauling in 31 offensive rebounds against Arkansas State Saturday, the Trojans pace Division I basketball in that category with 20 per game. Overall the Trojans had 69 boards against the Red Wolves, cementing their status as the nation’s second-best rebounding squad behind Baylor.
“Definitely a first,” Troy senior forward Caitlyn Ramirez said of achieving the mark.
Though not a program first, the 69-rebound effort tied the school record set in 1992 and set a Sun Belt Conference league-game record.
