TROY — Troy coach Neal Brown christened the 2017 football season with a new midsummer holiday.
“Happy New Year,” Brown said Sunday night, just as the Trojans opened preseason camp.
Brown shared no practice-field kisses, didn’t sing “Auld Lang Syne” and failed to gulp down the required black-eyed peas, but he said he wants the Trojans to make some major resolutions.
Troy, after a 10-win season last year that was a six-win improvement over 2015, has loads of experience returning and big expectations.
The Trojans have been picked to finish second in the Sun Belt Conference by the league’s coaches, behind Appalachian State.
