Troy Trojans defense ready to face multiple-option attack of Coastal Carolina

Troy defensive coordinator Vic Koenning was the least impressed person at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Nov. 2.

Sure, his unit held Idaho to just seven points through three quarters and 21 points overall in the Trojans’ 24-21 victory over Idaho. It was a win helped when Troy sacked Idaho quarterbacks – including NFL prospect Matt Linehan – six times.

But Koenning wasn’t happy. He had a laundry list of issues to review with his defense.

“They ran through us like tissue paper,” the coordinator said. “… When a ball gets thrown deep, it doesn’t matter if you’re in a zone, it’s still man.
