TROY — No cane was required, nor did Brandon Silvers betray any advanced age when he crossed the graduation stage.
Nor did such facts dissuade his Troy football teammates from the ridicule and satire of Silvers that followed.
Some things just can’t be avoided.
Armed with a diploma in one hand and, well, a stiff Nerf ball in the other, Silvers set to picking off said critics. One by one.
“It took me only 4 1/2 years, five if you want to be precise, but 4 1/2 years from when I became a full-time, 12-hour student,” Silvers said.
