The Trojans, preparing for last weekend’s game at Texas State, learned their hopes of a Sun Belt Conference championship had been revived.
Troy finished Saturday with a 40-7 win at Texas State and newfound hope.
Arkansas State’s 24-19 loss at Louisiana-Lafayette means Troy — with a win this weekend in its regular-season finale — will tie for a league title.
“I think we were all happy,” defensive lineman Jamal Stadom said. “We were excited being back in the talks of things. Kind of sad we had to pray for another team to beat them … but it is what it is.
