TROY – Troy co-offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Matt Moore raves about redshirt sophomore Kirk Kelley’s athleticism, and Kelley’s accomplishments certainly confirm the coach’s thoughts.
The 310-pound Kelley not only excelled on the football field during his career at John Ehret High School in Louisiana, but he also shined on the baseball diamond. He compiled 107 strikeouts in his senior year while featuring a fastball that he said reached 93 mph, earning him all-metro honors in New Orleans.
And as a 6-foot-4 lefty, Kelley could be quite imposing on the mound, he said. Think a shorter but heftier version of Randy Johnson.
