Troy once again fails to capitalize on in-season momentum with loss to South Alabama

For the second straight year, Troy has failed to take control of the Sun Belt Conference race due to a colossal loss at home.

In 2016, it was a 35-3 throttling by Arkansas State at Veterans Memorial Stadium that ultimately cost the Trojans a share of the Sun Belt title. And then Wednesday, Troy followed up a program-defining upset at perennial SEC power LSU with an inexplicable 19-8 loss to in-state rival South Alabama in the "Battle for the Belt."

Afterward, Trojans coach Neal Brown denied that his team was overlooking the Jaguars after a week spent in the college football spotlight following the 24-21 win in Baton Rouge.
