TROY – Troy’s John Johnson may be regarded for his pass-catching ability, but teams might have to respect his pass-throwing ability, too.
Before some fans had a chance to grab their seats, Johnson took a lateral from quarterback Brandon Silvers and flicked a 40-yard touchdown pass to freshman Tray Eafford in the Trojans’ 38-16 win over the Georgia Southern Eagles. Johnson, a senior from Troy, is now 3-of-3 passing for 56 yards and two touchdowns in his Trojan career.
“I’m just glad coach (Neal) Brown had the confidence in me to throw that pass,” Johnson said. “You have to have a lot of trust in a player to let him run that play.
