TROY, Alabama – Following its thrilling 24-21 victory at No. 22 LSU on Saturday, Troy has been named the Football Writers Association National Team of the Week for the first time in program history. The win snapped LSU's 49-game home non-conference winning streak, which dated back to 2000.
Troy stunned the crowd of more than 99,000 in Tiger Stadium as it built a 17-0 lead in the third quarter and held off the Tigers for the program's second-ever victory over a ranked opponent (No. 17 Missouri, 2004).
"We've been playing football for a long time. We've won three national championships; we've played against the 'who's who' of college football over the last 15 years and had some wins at our place," Troy head coach Neal Brown said.
