Troy headed to NCAA tournament for first time since 2003 after winning Sun Belt title

Troy is headed to the NCAA tournament for the first time in 14 years.

The Trojans beat Texas State 59-53 in Sunday's Sun Belt tournament championship. Troy (22-14) now awaits the NCAA Tournament Selection Show later this afternoon to learn where it will play in the postseason.

All-Sun Belt forward Jordon Varnado scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Troy, which entered the tournament as the No. 6 seed. The Trojans made the NCAA tournament for the only previous time in school history in 2003, when they lost to Xavier in the first round.
