Troy fifth-year senior DT Slater embracing final year, rivalry game

TROY – Ask any of the Troy football team members about backup defensive tackle Bryan Slater, and they will utter words that mimic “consummate glue guy.”

“He’s kind of a little bit of what they call a putty guy. He kind of just fills in the cracks,” defensive coordinator Vic Koenning said. “A couple of years ago, he played a good bit. If he plays, it will be in a mop-up role now. He’s always had a good demeanor, a good attitude and has always been positive and does what he can.”

“He probably doesn’t get as much playing time as he would want to, but he is one of those great teammates on the sideline that keeps doing his thing and going out there having fun with a smile on their face,” defensive back Kamryn Melton added.
