Troy falls late to Texas State, 57-56

SAN MARCOS, Texas – B.J. Miller had a chance to steal a road victory for Troy on Saturday, but his layup as time expired just barely fell off the mark as the Trojans fell 57-56 to Texas State.

The Trojans (7-10, 1-3) trailed for the majority of the second half before a turnover by Nijal Pearson with 22 seconds left allowed Miller to go sprinting down the court. He hit a layup while being fouled then calmly sank both free throws to put Troy on top 56-55.

On the ensuing possession, it looked as if the Bobcats (10-7, 3-1) shot at redemption would fall short as Pearson’s 3-pointer with seven seconds left was off, but Alex Peacock grabbed the offensive rebound then made his only basket of the second half for the 57-56 lead.
