MARICOPA, Ariz. – Jake Springer shot a 1-under 71 to lead Troy in Saturday's second round of the National Golf Invitational at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club. The Trojans slipped four spots into eighth place after shooting 5-over as a team.
Springer did all his work on the back nine after making the turn, even thanks to nine straight pars. He quickly moved to 2-under with birdies on the 12th and 14th before back-to-back bogeys pulled his card even. However, Springer birdied the par-3 17th to finish in the red and move into a tie for 19th place.
