Troy Alum Kim Swan to Compete in PGA's Butterfield Bermuda Championship

TROY, Ala. – Kim Swan, a member of the 1979 Troy men's golf team, will compete at the PGA Tour's Butterfield Bermuda Championship at the Port Royal Golf Course in late October after accepting a sponsor exemption for the tournament.

Swan helped lead Troy to a fourth-place finish at the 1979 NCAA Division II National Championship and was named the team's Most Valuable Player under Hall of Fame head coach Mike Griffin. He turned pro the following season and competed on the European Tour for two years.

"This special opportunity comes as I celebrate my 65th birthday at Port Royal Golf Course, which I proudly serve as chairman of the Board of Trustees, as it enters its 53rd year of operation as a public golf course," Swan told the Royal Gazette.
