Trojans sharp in first spring practice

TROY – New quarterbacks took the snaps for Troy as the Trojans started spring practice Thursday, but head coach Neal Brown said it was barely noticeable.

“We didn’t have guys on the ground,” he said. “The knowledge of what’s going on – not just offensively and defensively but how we want to practice, what we want to get done – this is by far the best first practice that we’ve had. I think that’s a testament to the guys that we’ve got here. I thought our energy was good for the first day.”

With senior quarterback Brandon Silvers sidelined with a hand injury, the Trojans’ offense practiced with Sawyer Smith and Kaleb Barker leading the charge.
