SAN MARCOS, Texas – John Wuthrich’s two-out single through the left side scored Travon Benton in the bottom of the tenth inning and gave Texas State an 8-7 victory over Troy in the Sun Belt series finale at Bobcat Ballpark on Sunday.
Benton drew a lead-off walk, was bunted to second and went to third on a wild pitch. Wuthrich drove him in for the walk-off win for the Bobcats (20-12, 7-5 SBC).
Troy (16-15, 5-7), which swept a Friday doubleheader to win the three-game series, had runners in scoring position in the ninth and tenth innings but didn’t score.
