Smith’s Slam Leads Troy Over Bama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Sophomore Reed Smith blasted a two-out grand slam in the top of the second to help propel Troy to an 8-4 victory over in-state foe Alabama at Sewell-Thomas Stadium Tuesday night.

Smith put an 0-1 pitch off the scoreboard to get the Trojans' (14-14) bats up and running – his third career homer and first career grand slam. Troy followed up the four-run frame with a three-run third on its way to its first win over the Crimson Tide (20-10) in Tuscaloosa since 2007.

After Sadler Goodwin (2-3) singled in a run in the third, the senior was called to the mound and proceeded to work 6.
