Second-half woes trip up Troy Trojans in loss to Georgia Southern

TROY – An arctic blast pummeling the country reached the Troy Trojans’ side of the Trojan Arena court in the second half of an 86-80 loss to the Georgia Southern Eagles.

The Trojans shot a dismal 38.7 percent from the floor in the second half, a percentage helped by a late 8-of-12 stretch. To make matters worse, Troy had no answer for the Eagles’ rebounding prowess as Georgia Southern (10-4 overall, 1-0 Sun Belt Conference) collected 16 offensive rebounds and turned them into 24 second-chance points.

“There was a stretch there in the second half where we weren’t efficient offensively,” Trojans head coach Phil Cunningham said.
