Quarter-by-quarter look at South Alabama's 19-8 win over Troy

South Alabama took back "The Belt" Wednesday, and maybe salvaged its season.

The Jaguars stunned arch-rival Troy 19-8 in the third "Battle for the Belt" at Veterans Memorial Stadium before a national television audience, holding the Trojans to 299 yards and forcing four turnovers. South Alabama (2-4, 1-1 Sun Belt Conference) dealt the Trojans (4-2, 1-1) a stunning defeat just 10 days after Troy won at LSU.

Xavier Johnson ran for a 1-yard touchdown in the first quarter, while Dallas Davis later threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Malik Stanley. The Jaguars added a safety on defense and a long Gavin Patterson field goal to complete the scoring.
