Offseason work pays dividends for Troy's Jones

TROY – Troy’s Marcus Jones said his offseason training allowed him to return two kickoffs for touchdowns in the Trojans’ last game against Coastal Carolina.

“I came in and was real small and everything like that,” the true freshman from Enterprise said. “I’d pound the weights during the offseason, and (strength) coach (Rafael) Horton just worked with me. ‘Til this day, I’m just working harder to get bigger and faster.”

Jones set a school record with the performance on Nov. 11 in Conway, S.C., and he became one of just 27 players to accomplish the feat in an FBS contest.
