After the final preseason games on Thursday night, NFL teams have gotten down to the business of reaching the mandatory regular-season roster limit of 53. NFL teams have until 3 p.m. CDT Saturday to trim their 90-player rosters, which will mean more than 1,100 players will be let go on Friday and Saturday.
The first wave of players going on waivers included 17 with Alabama football roots -- four who played at South Alabama, three from Alabama and one apiece from Auburn, Alabama State, Faulkner, Troy, Tuskegee and West Alabama.
