STATESBORO, Ga. — Randy Bell took a shutout into the eighth inning, while Dylan Hardy and Brendan Donovan each homered twice, lifting South Alabama to a 9-1 victory over Troy on Friday in the first round of the Sun Belt tournament.
Due to weather, the tournament is single elimination.
Donovan hit two-run home runs in the first and eighth innings, while Hardy cracked a three-run blast in the fourth a a solo shot in the sixth.
Troy (31-25) scored in the eighth. After Brent Lockridge led off with a walk, he went to second on Mason Rogers’ two-out single and scored on a Chase Smartt single.
