Troy linebacker Tyler Murray, shown with an interception last season, has been a physical presence during spring practice for the Trojans.
CHIP DILLARD / TROY MEDIA RELATIONSTROY – He was beaten by a step early in a drill during Monday’s spring football practice, but Tyler Murray didn’t panic.
Troy’s “spear” – or hybrid nickel defensive back or outside linebacker – tracked an underthrown deep ball with his eyes, reached up and snagged it like a center fielder with one hand.
The 6-foot-1, 210-pound sophomore from Baldwin, Fla., joked when asked about that play after the Trojans’ two-plus hour practice session in shells (helmets, shoulder pads and shorts).
