LSU outscores opponents 20-2 in doubleheader wins

BATON ROUGE, La. - The No. 12 LSU softball team finished a grueling weekend of six games by earning an 11-1 victory over the Troy Trojans in six innings to close play at the 2017 LSU Invitational Sunday at Tiger Park in Baton Rouge with a sweep.

The Tigers (18-4) wasted little time in setting the tone and putting the game away early by scoring eight of their 11 runs in the contest in the first two innings, getting a walk-off three run shot from freshman Sydney Springfield to end the game an inning early. While Troy (11-11) was the first to strike a blow getting a run in the first three at-bats of the game, junior pitcher Allie Walljasper shut the Trojan offense down the rest of the way as she ended the day allowing just the lone run on four hits with four strikeouts and a walk.
