Troy Trojans former softball coach Melanie Davis is a member of the Alabama ASA Hall of Fame, a Wiregrass Hall of Fame inductee and, on Saturday night, will be inducted into the Troy University Sports Hall of Fame.
But not even Davis, who won 780 games over 21 years with the program she built from the ground up, could stave off a serious flu bug this week. She issued a statement of thanks and appreciation that underscored the excitement she feels for her upcoming induction.
“I am truly honored and humbled to be selected for induction into a group that includes such icons as Larry Blakeney, Don Maestri, Joyce Sorrell and athletics director Johnny Williams,” Davis said in the statement.
