TROY, Alabama – Troy freshman Leanna Johnson has been tabbed as the Community Coffee Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Johnson, a Brantley, Alabama product, took the award after picking up the win over North Alabama and two wins over UT Arlington last week. Johnson gave up only one run over 22 innings of work to record a 0.32 ERA and fanned 11 batters.
The freshman pitched a two-hit shutout over North Alabama in a midweek tilt on Wednesday followed by a win in extra innings on Friday afternoon against UT Arlington.
