Fortunately for both, the senior safety from Natchez, Miss., progressed enough from ankle surgery in May to be cleared for extended action last week against New Mexico State.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound transfer from Hinds Community College didn’t just play, he started against the Aggies. And he didn’t just start, he co-led Troy with eight tackles – tied for team high with teammate Tron Folsom – and had two pass breakups and a half tackle for loss.
