Troy receiver Deondre Douglas (80) is knocked out of bounds after making a catch during a game against Akron on Saturday.
JAY HARE / DOTHAN EAGLETROY – After a game with so much ugly in it, maybe Deondre Douglas had earned some divine intervention for the Troy Trojans.
Douglas’ 23-yard touchdown reception with 1:06 remaining capped a 97-yard scoring drive to beat Akron 22-17.
Earlier on that march, Douglas kept it alive with a huge catch on fourth-and-5 for 16 yards and a first down to the Zips’ 44.
Douglas, who finished with a team-high seven catches for 92 yards and the winning touchdown, backed up a seven-catch, 101-yard performance against New Mexico State.
