Former Missouri quarterback Taylor Powell has won the starting job at Troy.
Powell beat out 2020 starter Gunnar Watson, Trojans coach Chip Lindsey announced Thursday.
“Anytime you have competition like that, it makes everyone better,” Lindsey said, according to a Troy news release.
“This year we’re going into the season with the luxury of having two guys that have played college football and that’s always a plus.
“At the end of the day,” Lindsey added, “it’s a competition and we have to go with one guy.”
