TROY, Alabama – Jared Hayes has been named the Men's Freshman of the Year and Newcomer of the Year, while Precious Ogba was tabbed the Women's Freshman of the Year, the Sun Belt office announced Tuesday morning.
Hayes kicked off his freshman campaign with a win in the 200-meter dash at the Jaguar Classic. He then wrapped it all up with a silver-medal finish in both the 200-meter and the 400-meter at the Sun Belt Outdoor Championships last weekend.
His counterpart Ogba brought home the gold in the 400-meter dash at the conference championships and finished fifth in the 200-meter.
