Gripping drama: Troy wins with late TD

TROY — Deondre Douglas caught a 23-yard touchdown pass from Brandon Silvers with 1:06 remaining to lift Troy to a 22-17 win over Akron on Saturday.

The Trojans (3-1) drove 97 yards on nine plays for the go-ahead score.

With Troy facing fourth-and-5 at its own 40, Silvers and Douglas connected for a 16-yard gain. Silvers followed with a 12-yard pass to Damion Willis and Jordan Chunn ran for a 9-yard gain to set up the winning play.

Douglas caught the ball along the left sideline in the end zone and got his left foot down before being knocked out of bounds.
