Troy, Ala. – After a strong performance on Friday, Garrett Gainous has been named Sun Belt Pitcher of the week for the first time in his career, the league office announced Tuesday.
Gainous is coming off his second quality start after guiding Troy to victory over Louisiana in their series opener over the weekend for the Trojan's sixth straight win.
"Garrett has been very consistent all season in his ability to attack the zone," head coach Skylar Meade said. "This past week, he set the tone for our weekend with his game one performance, and he certainly deserves this recognition.
