Free throw woes sink Trojans

The Trojans hit just 65.5 percent from the line – a contrast to Georgia Southern’s 83.3 percent – in a 77-71 loss to the Eagles at Trojan Arena. Troy (7-17 overall, 2-11 Sun Belt Conference) was just 19-of-29 from the line, while Georgia Southern (11-12, 7-6) hit 20-of-24 in the game.

“There are a lot of things that lead to a win or a loss, but I feel like we’ve lost three games at home now at the free throw line,” Trojans head coach Phil Cunningham said. “We missed 14 free throws against Arkansas State (an 84-81 loss), we missed 12 free throws against Appalachian State (a 75-71 defeat), and we missed 10 tonight – including two front-ends of the bonus – and it’s a six-point game.
