Something minor on Wednesday signaled former Houston Academy and current Troy kicker Bratcher Underwood that his life was about to change.
A team meeting later that day confirmed the news: Underwood had earned a scholarship.
“I was really excited,” he said. “I can’t lie and say I was surprised, though. Earlier that day, (director of player personnel) Jamaal Smith had sent out the study hall list. That’s usually for the scholarship players.
