MACON, Georgia – Celia Montero Estevan won the Flight C singles title, while Estevan and Maria Casas Blas teamed up to take the Flight B doubles crown on Sunday in the Mercer Gridiron Classic.
Estevan topped her doubles partner (7-6 (6), 7-6 (4)) to complete the five-match sweep in Flight C. The duo came together to defeat Worthy Goldman and Maria Popova of Alabama State in the doubles finals.
Freshman Chunxi Guo fell just short in the Flight B finals falling (3-6, 6-3, 6-7 (4)) to Mercer's Celine Schepers.
"I am very proud of the way the girls competed in each flight of the tournament this weekend," head coach Rawia Elsisi said.
