LSU quarterback Danny Etling looks down the left the sideline and throws under pressure. Troy cornerback Blace Brown retreats into position and makes the interception in the final seconds that clinches the Trojans’ 24-21 victory in Tiger Stadium. Bedlam.
After the game, Brown, a junior receiver-turned-corner, shared credit for the play.
“Our spear (nickel back), Marcus Jones, told me a corner route was coming,” Brown said. “He’d seen it before. Marcus is a real smart guy, got a real high IQ in football, so I listened to him and the ball came right to me.”
There’s nothing unusual about crediting a teammate.
