TROY – Don’t think a roster of just 13 position players, three pitchers and one who does both bothers Troy head softball coach Beth Mullins: she actually enjoys it.
“I like to keep anywhere from 18 to 20, 22, so 17’s not that (bad). That’s how it used to be,” the third-year Trojan coach said. “What’s great is you get a lot of reps, and our young kids have had so much opportunity to get reps that they’ve come along a lot quicker. I would rather actually (have) a small roster than a big roster.”
The Trojans, who went 31-25 last season, graduated seven seniors from last year’s team – including the top two hitters.
