Troy racked up 489 yards in total offense, as quarterback Brandon Silvers had another prolific night at home at Veterans Memorial Stadium as the Trojans defeated Akron 22-17.
Silvers went 28-of-41 for 314 passing yards on the night, while the Trojan defense kept the Zips to just 99 yards rushing and forced three turnovers.
Akron scored just once in the first half, when Tom O'Leary hit a 23-yard field goal in the first quarter. The Trojans meanwhile scored touchdowns on a 6-yard run from Jordan Chunn,a 22-yard field goal and a 48-yard rush from Kaleb Barker before halftime.
