TROY, Alabama – Troy senior quarterback Brandon Silvers has been named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week following a vote by the league's media, the conference office announced Monday morning.
Silvers completed 25-of-40 passes for 286 yards and a touchdown in addition to rushing for 28 yards and the game-winning touchdown in Troy's 27-24 victory at New Mexico State in the Trojans' Sun Belt opener.
Leading 20-16 late in the third quarter, Silvers converted a huge third-and-10 with an 11-yard completion to Jordan Chunn. Facing third-and-12 later in the drive, Silvers hit Clark Quisenberry for 11 yards to set up what turned out to be the play of the game.
