Nine Troy Trojans, including Wiregrass products Emanuel Thompson and Kamryn Melton, were named to the Sun Belt Conference’s preseason football team Friday.
Thompson was selected as a first-team wide receiver while Melton was named as a second-team defensive back.
Other Trojans joining Thompson on the first team were quarterback Brandon Silvers, offensive lineman Steven Rowzee and defensive tackle Baron Poole. Accompanying Melton on the second team were running back Jordan Chunn, wide receiver Deondre Douglas, offensive lineman Deontae Crumitie and safety Kris Weatherspoon.
Thompson, a senior who played at Barbour County, led the Sun Belt with 80 receptions a year ago while tying for second with six touchdown receptions and finishing third with 820 receiving.
