First capped in 2008, France and Spurs skipper Hugo, 31, proudly led Les Bleus out for his 100th appearance at the Ekateringburg Arena in Russia.

The goalkeeper who passed the 250 appearance mark for us last season kept a clean sheet as Kylian Mbappe's goal on 34 minutes proved decisive.

Hugo was rarely troubled by a persistent Peru side, although Pedro Aquino struck the outside of the post in the second half. Hugo also comfortably fielded Andre Carillo's late free-kick.

France have two wins in two and top Group C with six points from Christian Eriksen's Denmark.
