On May 29, 1968, we took on APOEL at the Nicosia Stadium in the final match of our five-game post-season tour of Greece and Cyprus, where Jimmy Robertson, Jimmy Pearce (pictured, below) and Cliff Jones scored to give us a 3-0 victory.
Our team was: Jennings, Kinnear, Want, Beal, Collins, P., Mackay, Robertson, Bond (Pearce 46), Gilzean (Pratt 46), Venables, Jones (Johnson 46).
Martin Chivers, Cyril Knowles and Jimmy Greaves had all returned home early from the tour and so did not feature against APOEL – Chivers and Knowles had to report for international duty while Greaves had to depart due to the illness of one of his children.
