US billionaire Jahm Najafi is 'eyeing a potential takeover for Everton rather than Tottenham' despite McLaren vice-chairman meeting Spurs owner Daniel Levy on Friday ahead of this Sunday's Grand Prix

American billionaire Jahm Najafi is reportedly considering an approach to buy Everton, despite having previously been linked with Tottenham.

The Iranian-born businessman had been connected with Spurs, and was thought to be preparing a £3billion take over of the north London outfit - but now looks to be eyeing one of their Premier League rivals.

Najafi has already built up an impressive portfolio of investment in the world of sport, including NBA franchise the Phoenix Suns and F1 team McLaren, where he is the vice-chairman.

Speculation swirled with increased intensity over an approach for Spurs when he was spotted with Levy at the Bahrain Grand Prix on Friday

However, their encounter was not thought to be related to a move for the club.
