Juve were dispatched along with Dynamo Kiev and local Italian side Borgaro as, playing 60-minute games, we stormed through the group stage with three wins out of three before coming up against a highly impressive Atalanta outfit in the semi-finals.
Despite falling behind early on, we took the lead through a brace from Troy Parrot – two of 10 goals he scored overall to claim the tournament’s Golden Boot – only to concede an equaliser from the spot six minutes from time before slipping to a 5-4 defeat in the resulting penalty shootout.
Atalanta went on to lift the trophy while another Parrot double saw us round off the campaign in positive fashion by beating Juventus 2-1 in the third place play-off on Monday.
