And Harry Kane appeared to heed Maradona's wise words when they met up at Wembley before Tottenham defeated rivals Liverpool 4-1.
The Argentina legend urged Kane to shoot across goal rather than always aiming for the near post and England's star forward listened.
Maradona, speaking to Kane and Hugo Lloris through stand-in translator and Tottenham legend Ossie Ardiles, said: 'Wow what a goalscorer.
