Tottenham are facing an anxious wait to discover whether Antonio Conte wants to become their new manager amid concerns from the Italian about the club’s ambition.

Talks between Spurs and the Italian are underway, but it is understood Conte is stalling with Tottenham officials now seriously doubting whether appointing the former Chelsea manager is possible.

Conte is chairman Daniel Levy’s preferred candidate after missing out on Julian Nagelsmann and Brendan Rodgers.
