Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino defends Serge Aurier after Ivorian's red card on first Premier League start against West Ham at London Stadium

Serge Aurier's red card on his first Premier League start hardly eased the concerns of those Tottenham fans who fear the Ivorian right-back could be something of a liability.

Aurier was booked twice within the space of six second-half minutes and might well have cost Spurs the three points as West Ham mounted a late fightback.

The 24-year-old had a turbulent time at Paris Saint-Germain, getting into trouble with the law and was banned after aiming homophobic slurs at Laurent Blanc and Zlatan Ibrahimovic - but Mauricio Pochettino offered him a clean slate after his £23million move.
