Tottenham back-up goalkeeper Alfie Whiteman is carried away on a stretcher in open training session in Singapore after suffering a horror ankle injury

Alfie Whiteman has been carried off during an open training session in Singapore with an ankle injury.

Whiteman, 24, is here as back-up to Guglielmo Vicario and was due to play the second half of the preseason friendly against Leicester in Bangkok on Sunday.

But that game was cancelled when the pitch was waterlogged by a downpour and he was due to make an appearance instead against Lion City Sailors in Singapore on Wednesday.

Whiteman was taking part in a goalkeepers’ training drill in front of 6,000 fans inside Singapore’s National Stadium when he was hurt.
