When Harry Kane scored Tottenham’s fourth goal against Liverpool on Sunday, one player didn’t celebrate quite so much.
As Kane wheeled away in front of the home support having notched for the 13th time this season, Jan Vertonghen was left clutching his head in despair.
The Belgian did, of course, enjoy his team-mate’s strike but so frustrating has the player’s search for a goal been, he couldn’t hide his annoyance at Roberto Firmino’s goal-line block.
Vertonghen’s hunt for a Premier League goal extends way back to his debut season at White Hart Lane with his last strike coming against Swansea City in a 2-1 victory at the Liberty Stadium in March 2013.
