If Ralph Hasenhuttl wanted a symbol of what needs to and can be done with Southampton, he would do well to follow the man he watched lead Tottenham to a simple win against the Saints.
Hasenhuttl flew over on Wednesday to confirm his deal and was whisked straight to Wembley. He stayed away from the dressing room and touchline, leaving it to club stalwart and caretaker manager Kelvin Davis to take charge of this one.
Instead, he watched from the director's box behind chairman Ralph Krueger and next to the Saints' director of scouting, Ross Wilson. His work starts on Thursday, when he will meet the press and have the players back in for a training session.
